‘Mohenjo Daro’ movie review: A Hrithik Roshan film all the way

Mohenjo Daro

Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Pooja Hegde, Kabir Bedi, Arunoday Singh

Director: Ashutosh Gowariker

Rating: 2/5

Hrithik Roshan and Ashutosh Gowariker have once again joined hands for another period drama ‘Mohenjo Daro’. Set on the background of the early civilization known to man the film tells the story of Sarman(Hrithik Roshan) a poor indigo farmer of Samri and his dream of visiting Mohenjo Daro. Here he meets the girl of his dream the beautiful Chaani (Pooja Hegde) daughter of the pujari (Manish Chaudhary). The two fall in love setting the handsome farmer on a violent collision course with the brutal ruler of the land Maham(Kabir Bedi) who plans to destroy the city for wealth. Chaani is to be married to his vicious son, Munja (Arunoday Singh).

Will Sarman find love and save the city from being destroyed by Maham? All this and much more will be revealed in the epic drama.

  • Ashutosh Gowariker should be applauded for keeping minute details of that period in mind while making the historic drama. Hrithik Roshan as Sarman an indigo farmer is like a dream in motion as he fights with the crocodile, his face off with two iron-chested cannibals is worth a watch. Pooja Hegde who marks her debut in Bollywood with Mohenjo Daro could have fared better with a little more effort. While Kabir Bedi as the evil Maham carries it off with a raffish air.

AR Rahman’s background score compliments the whole setting of the film. There a few moments in the movie that are out of the ordinary but the loose editing does not help it much. The VFX deserves a special mention. Hrithik Roshan manages to hold the film together with his star power.

Watch it if you have nothing to do.
