‘Sultan’ Movie Review: Salman Khan’s best performance till date

Salman Khan Sultan

Cast: Salman Khan, Anushka Sharma, Randeep Hooda

Director: Ali Abbas Zafar

Producer: Yash Raj Films

Rating: 3/5

Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Sultan’ starring Salman Khan in the titular role has all the ingredients of a blockbuster. The director has truly tamed the Tiger’s persona and has revealed the true actor. The story unveils in a dusty Haryanvi town with our lead player going through the phases of a homegrown wrestler to a king of freestyle fighting.

The film starts with Aakash Oberoi (Amit Sadh), a young entrepreneur whose idea of bringing Mixed Martial Arts contests to India is a failure. His father advises him to rope in a local fighter Sultan Ali Khan (Salman Khan), a 40-year-old former wrestler. Today, Sultan is just a shadow of his former self. Though life has been knocking him down for years, he knows he is down, but not out. Sultan Ali Khan(Salman Khan) of Rewari district’s Buroli village fights against all odds to prove his worth to himself and the whole wide world for his love Aarfa(Anushka Sharma).

  • How ‘Sultan’ in his humble down to earth ways win the hearts of International fans and makes a name for himself is the movie all about.

Salman Khan has given the performance of his life in the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial. Though his Haryanvi accent leaves much to be desired, his performance as a middle-aged wrestler is truly worth a watch. Anushka Sharma as a fiery Aarfa the queen of the wrestling ring who gives up her desire to get an Olympic medal for her family is a perfect foil to Salman’s act.

The songs and the cinematography add to the story. The script is tightly woven with no reason for a slack. Zafar’s direction is impeccable. It is a must watch not only for Salmaniacs but others too.

Do watch it for Salman Khan’s outstanding performance as Sultan Ali Khan.
