The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has issued an ultimatum to Pakistani artists like Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan and others working in the country to leave within 48 hours. This warning was issued by Raj Thackeray-led political party in the wake of the recent attack on the army base in Uri by Pakistan-based terrorists in which 18 soldiers were martyred.
The film wing of MNS further added that they will also not allow the release of ‘Raees’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ in Maharashtra. The reason being both these film star Pakistani actors. The Rahul Dholakia film has Mahira Khan whereas Karan Johar’s directorial stars Fawad Khan.
Vageesh Saraswat, vice president of MNS said, “From Pakistan’s side lot of terrorism is happening. Our soldiers are been killed by them. MNS has taken this stand right from the beginning that we shouldn’t keep any relation with Pakistan. We have given them 48 hours to leave our country or else we will implement ‘our approach’ towards handling this.”
He further added that, “If Pakistan stops terrorism and attacking us then we don’t mind talented artists performing in the country. However, we won’t entertain talent when there is terrorism. If the Pakistani actors won’t leave in next 48 hours then we will go to the places where they would be present and chase them out of our country (Dauda kar marenge.)”
Shalini Thackeray, general secretary of MNS Chitrapat Karamchari Sena further added that it is not a veiled threat but a direct one to producers who cast Pakistani actors in their film. If they do so we will not let their films be released here. She further added that is the Pakistani actors do not comply them we shall chase them out of the country. This threat was also to the artists performing stage shows or the ones working in television shows.
