Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati‘ has finally kickstarted with its shooting today. The CEO of Bhansali Productions Shobha Sant, has posted a tweet confessing about the same.

  • Here’s the tweet:

The movie is being shot in Mehboob Studios, Bandra post which it will be shot in Filmcity, Goregaon. The movie was supposed to go on the floors in September, but due to certain reasons the shooting got delayed. Ranveer Singh who essays the role of Alauddin Khilji in the movie has taken inspiration from Aamir Khan and Hitler. A source quoted to a renowned daily, “Ranveer is prepping his body language, mannerisms, diction and physique. He is holed up in his Goregaon apartment and has himself off from people. For many hours in the day, he transforms into Khilji working on his dialogues and diction. From intense workouts, to reading, research and diction training, Ranveer is going the extra mile to become Alauddin Khilji. After Befikre, he had to build up a different kind of body for Padmavati which is more powerful and big built. He works out for almost three hours every day. His benchmark to play this iconic, villainous historical character is very high; and therefore, this has become the toughest role that he has ever tackled!”

There were rumours earlier that Deepika who plays the titular role of Rani Padmavati would start the shooting with a dance number, but Ranveer has started the shoot now. Shahid Kapoor is also a part of the movie as Raja Rawal Ratan Singh, Rani Padmavati’s husband while rumours are rife that Aditi Rao Hydari will be portraying the role of Kamala Devi, Alauddin Khilji’s wife.

Now that the film has finally gone on the floors, we are super excited and waiting to see a few glimpses of the actors in their new look.
