Vidya Balan talks about women being perceived as a procreation machine in the most unabashed way

Vidya Balan

Actress Vidya Balan is back in the limelight and for a good enough reason. Her latest release ‘Kahaani 2’ has received an overall good response from the critics and everybody who has seen the movie by now has been praising her performance. Vidya is an actress who has always owned the movies she has been a part of and that too without a male counterpart.

After a string of flops, it looks like a new ray of hope for the actress who is happily married to Siddharth Roy Kapur. Recently, Vidya spoke about the the general male perception of women being procreation machines. She also spoke about sexism in the most unabashed manner.

  • Said Vidya, “In interviews I get asked about my marriage and when I am having a child, time and again. There are other actors, male actors, who have gotten married. They are not asked, ‘when are you impregnating your wife?’ They are not even asked, ‘how is your married life going?’ For me to be asked that all the time – it is excessive. Because I do have an identity outside being a married woman. And that does not compromise or mitigate what I feel for Siddharth. But I come back to say – I am the most important person in my life. ”

She added, “When I was told multiple times for several films that the hero has given the dates so you have to adjust, we won’t get his dates later. Khoon khaulta tha mera. I might be committed to some other film, but I would have to change things around.”

She’s got a point there and we loved how she vented out her feelings without any fear of being judged.
