Despite mixed reviews from the critics, Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s film ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ has managed to get a good opening at the box office. The Khiladi’s new film may be able to help him keep up with his ‘Bollywood’s banker’ moniker.
As per the report in Box Office India, the film has managed to mint approximately Rs 12 crore on its opening day. The reason being that this film has received approximately 3000 screens all over India and it looks like it has worked as an advantage for the film.
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, ‘TEPK’ is all about the importance of proper sanitation and hygiene. ‘TEPK’ has received an opening similar to that of Akshay’s last film ‘Jolly LLB 2’ which proved to be an average at the box office.
Box Office India report said the upcoming holiday weekend is crucial for Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’s success. “The content has to work to bring in the audience over the weekend and then get a boost over the holiday period. The weekend audience is important for these types of films and if the metro audience comes in tomorrow then the film is likely to do well at the box office.”
On the other hand, the opening day collection of ‘TEPK’ is lesser than that of Shah Rukh Khan’s last week release ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’. Though JHMS did not fare well at the box office, looks like Akshay and Bhumi’s love saga around toilet already seems to be on the path of success.
Let’s see what weekend holds for ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’. Being an extended weekend, we are expecting the numbers to be good.
