Box office report: ‘Judwaa 2’ marks 19th highest opening weekend

It has been a poor year at the Box Office India and to save and give a solution to it, we have Varun Dhawan’s movie ‘Judwaa 2‘ which is doing superbly well. The movie has been raking in the numbers for its family and commercial value.

The movie has taken the 19th highest opening weekend. The first day of the film at the box office saw the movie min INR 15.55 Crore and was the third highest opening day Bollywood grosser of 2017 after Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’ and Shah Rukh Khan ‘Raees’.

Talking about Varun’s movies, it is the highest opening day grosser. Day 2 was amazing for the movie as well as it earned INR 20.25 crore at the box office. ‘Judwaa 2’ zoomed past ‘Tubelight’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ INR 16.86 crore when it comes to day 2 collections.

Now comes the Day 3 which is a Sunday, the movie earned INR 22 crore at the box office which was a little shock to us as the cricket match was going. But still the movie did amazingly well on Sunday. And the total collection for the weekend stands at INR 58 crore. It’s the 19th highest opening weekend of all time.

The day 4, Monday marks an advantage for Varun’s movie as it’s October 2, Gandhi Jayanti. The film is directed by David Dhawan. It also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu. The movie is a sequel to the 1997 comedy ‘Judwaa’ which starred Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Rambha.
Recently, in an interview with a leading website, Varun revealed that the biggest challenge for him in ‘Judwaa 2’ was to make sure that he lives up to the expectations of Salman’s fans. The actor stated, “It can be tricky with the film’s original fan base. It’s all about getting it right. The other challenge was playing tapori in a contemporary way. Comparisons are obvious to happen, and the day I decided that we are going to completely reboot this film and bring it two decades later, I knew all this will happen.”
“I knew one thing as an actor — this will result in an incredible amount of buzz which you can’t buy as it’s going to be organic. Both pressure and expectations will be there. But I am happy that there are expectations; if there were no expectations then that would have been a problem,” Varun added.
