The demonetization issue is still going on and it’s pretty much affecting the business of movies at the box office. After the dismal figures of last week’s release ‘Rock On 2’, yesterday’s released movies ‘Force 2‘ and ‘Tum Bin 2‘ also fared poorly on day one.
John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha starrer action thriller ‘Force 2’ did a business of Rs 5 crore nett which is better than ‘Rock On’2 first day business, but not that good. The first part ‘Force’ which released in 2011 did not work much at the box office, so we cannot expect huge numbers from the second part too. The movie has not shown good figures in any region and it needs a growth of atleast 40-50% on the weekend to sustain.
The other release ‘Tum Bin 2’ starring relatively newer faces collected Rs 75 lakh nett on its first day. ‘Tum Bin’ wasn’t a huge success at the box office, the music being the only reason for people to remember the movie. So, we had expected the sequel to fare on similar lines because sequels rarely work and especially when you have lesser known faces. Another disadvantage being the movie was pitted against another movie that had known faces and to add to it, the demonetisation issue which is keeping the audiences away from the theatres.
