Three movies released yesterday, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Mirzya‘, A.L. Vijay’s ‘Tutak Tutak Tutiya‘ and Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s ‘MSG-The Warrior Lion Heart’. None of the movies managed to live up to the expectations.
Let’s start with the business of Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher starrer ‘Mirzya’ which was based on the folklore Mirza-Sahiban. The movie did a poor business of arounds Rs 1.50-1.75 crore nett range. The North region did not give the desired numbers. What didn’t work for the film was period love story concept that didn’t find many takers. In fact, the day one collections of the film are in the range of films like ‘Madaari’ and ‘Freaky Ali’.
Sonu Sood’s production ‘Tutak Tutak Tutiya’ starring Prabhudheva and Tamannaah Bhatia opened to a very poor response at the box office with only Rs 40-45 lakh. The movie earned mixed reviews.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s ‘MSG-The Warrior Lion Heart’ surprisingly did a business of Rs 1-1.25 crore nett. The movie was bashed by the critics.
