The Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Rock On 2‘ that released yesterday had a disappointing start at the box office. The movie raked in Rs 1.75-2 crore nett on the first day of its release and that’s very poor. In fact, it is one of the worst opening of the year as compared to Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Miryza’ that had garnered Rs 1.65 crore nett.
The demonetising effect is being touted as one of the reasons for the low numbers. Although, the makers of ‘Rock On 2’ had come up with a novel idea wherein they teamed up with PVR Cinemas and slashed the convenience fee that is usually charged when you book online movie tickets.
But, it would be too early to predict the fate of the movie, so let’s wait to see how the movie manages to hold on the weekend. The first instalment ‘Rock On’ was also not a box office success and so the sequel doesn’t really have a big advantage in that department. Let’s see how the movie takes off from here.
