‘A Gentleman’ Movie Review: A below average plot with above average action sequences

Directed By: Raj & DK
Produced By: Fox Star Studios
Cast: Jacqueline Fernandez, Sidharth Malhotra, Suniel Shetty
2 hours 30 minutes
Rating: 2/5

Okay honestly, we really don’t know what went wrong with this action thriller. But we don’t understand the reason behind the title of the film ‘A Gentleman‘.

Sidharth Malhotra plays the characters of Rishi and Gaurav, both of who are drastically opposite to each other. Gaurav is a sales manager who works for a leading organisation and owns a pretty house and a mini van in the US. All’s perfect for him and he is now wanting to get married and settle down. Although, he has a dark past that he keeps unrevealed from others. Rishi, on the contrary, is a fearless man with a knack of taking risks every now and then. However, he is unaware of the fact that he’s being misused for wrong reasons. Eventually it strikes his mind and he now wants to get out of the situations that he’s trapped in.

The leading lady of the film, Kavya (Jacqueline Fernandez) is the perfect bombshell that any guy would drool over and Gurav too belongs to the clan. But he’s obviously friendzoned by Kavya, since he’s just too nice. I mean, a guy who cooks, even makes gol chapatis, shops for household, cleans, drives slowly, is a really safe guy to be with, but where’s the risk in it!?

So wait! It sure is called an action thriller, where we agree there’s a lot of action, but the thrill starts and ends in no time, precisely 15 minutes! We give all the points to Sidharth for working too hard with his action sequences, since it flows very smoothly in the movie.

Jackie on the other hand, is this very good looking girl who is always thrilling her life and gets caught by the police for rash driving. There’s nothing about Jackie’s look that we’d want to change, she’s hot! But, she forgets to act! Suniel Shetty’s part in the movie looks like a complete waste.

We do understand that directors Raj & DK wanted to make this movie a complete action thriller, but they’ve failed at it. However, the editing saves a lot of miserable moments. The first half still looks decent, with average amount of comic timings, but the second half is a disappointment. Screenplay should have been stronger, but it isn’t.

Only because the film has been shot in the beautiful locales of USA, it becomes a decently shot film.

If you wish to go for a one-time watch, this film won’t disappoint. But don’t go with too many expectations.
