The fourth instalment of the ‘Raaz’ franchise named ‘Raaz Reboot‘ has it all thrills, chills and evil spirits in the house. The story revolves around a newlywed couple, a haunted house and a little bit of mystery.
The fourth edition of the ‘Raaz’ series takes us to Romania, specifically Transylvania Dracula’s country. The setting itself adds to the spookiness of the film. But will the movie able to evoke scares as promised?
The story of the film is based on a newly married couple Rehaan(Gaurav Arora) and Shaina(Kriti Kharbanda) arriving in Romania. While settling down, Shaina experiences paranormal activities and soon gets possessed by an evil spirit. Rehaan along with Aditya(Emraan Hashmi) Shaina’s ex-boyfriend who has made an entry back into their life, sets out to free her.
The fight between good and evil begins. Will Shaina be free from the clutches of this ghost? Will Rehaan be able to save his love? What are Aditya’s intentions behind helping Shaina? All these and many more questions will be answered in ‘Raaz Reboot’.
Emraan Hashmi as Aditya, Shaina’s past and the antagonist of the tale turns out to be the saving grace of the film. Gaurav Arora who had given a mature performance in ‘Love Games’ is restricted by the loose script. Kriti Kharbanda as Shaina is okayish but her transformation into a feral woman is worth a mention. The music is the saving grace of the film. ‘Lo Maan Liya’ and ‘Yaad Hai Na’ are hummable. Romania is beautifully captured by cinematographer Manoj Soni.
The climax scene is predictable. B-Town’s serial kisser Emraan has even claimed that this latest offering is the scariest of all the previous films in the series. But this fourth edition of the ‘Raaz’ franchise offers nothing exciting. It is unconvincing and tedious to watch. Same old theatrics, same old story.
Watch if you are an Emraan Hashmi fan.
