Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar who has always believed in realistic cinema is all set to helm a period drama called ‘Indu Sarkar’. The movie will be inspired by the Emergency imposed by the then late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Now we hear that recently married actor Neil Nitin Mukesh has been roped in to play an important role in the movie.
He will play the role of late Indira Gandhi’s son Sanjay Gandhi in the film. The story revolves around the journey of a poetess who rebels against the system. The lead role will be essayed by Kirti Kulhari.
Bhandarkar stated that the movie is not related to the Gandhi family, but he did say that the movie has fictional elements that happened between 1975 and 1977. He has been doing lot of research like reading books on Sanjay Gandhi and meeting ace journalists.
The movie will roll in December and will be shot extensively in Karjat wherein Delhi will be recreated.
