Deepika Padukone will be depicting the role of Rani Padmavati in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama, recently shot for a dance sequence. The ‘Piku’ star shot a folk song for Padmavati at Mehboob Studio in Bandra, Mumbai. The cast and the crew of the film were in a for a pleasant surprise when Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt dropped over to meet them.
Bhansali has created a huge set in Mehboob studio. SRK and Alia who are promoting their upcoming Gauri Shinde film were in the vicinity so they dropped by the ‘Padmavati’ set to visit Deepika. Dressed in jeans and tee SRK and Alia looked amazing.
Sources said, “We have started shooting for a song. It’s a folk song, a Rajasthani song. The set is huge and it’s grand. The song features only Deepika Padukone.” The song has been choreographed in the Rajasthani folk dance ‘ghoomar’ style. In ‘Bajirao Mastani’, Deepika and co-star Priyanka Chopra featured in a lavani-style dance number titled ‘Pinga’.
Though no pictures of Deepika Padukone dressed in traditional finery for the dance number were caught on camera. The back-up dancers were seen in traditional costumes of lehenga, blouse and dupatta with heavy jewellery. It is rumoured that going by Bhansali’s tradition of keeping the sets and the cast if his film far from prying eyes, ‘Padmavati’ is also be shot under utmost security.
The film also stars Ranveer Singh in the garb of Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Padmavati’s husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh. On the other hand Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt starrer Dear Zindagi will be releasing on November 23.
