Katrina Kaif receives the Smita Patil Memorial Award

Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif was presented the Smita Patil Memorial Award for Best Actor recently. The ‘Bang Bang’ beauty was awarded by the socio-cultural and educational organization, Priyadarshini Academy. It was Union Minister Nitin Gadkari who gave away the award to the Barbie Doll of Bollywood.

Now news of Katrina Kaif being bestowed with the Smita Patil award had created a furore. Even Smita Patil’s son Prateik Babbar made a nasty comment over the matter. But Katrina turned up at the ceremony to receive the award and even gave a graceful acceptance speech.

Katrina Kaif looked glowing sporting a green Indian ensemble. Looking bewitching in the heavily embroidered Sabyasachi suit in black and green with a serene smile on her face. The actress was seen graciously accepting the honour and dedicating her award to women achievers of the country.

She said, “The world of cinema, not just Indian cinema, is often called a man’s world, it is changing, but the change is slow. So I believe it is a matter of great pride that we have an award that acknowledges and recognizes the contribution of women in cinema. This award honors the memory of one of the greatest and most accomplished actors, whose roles served as an inspiration in the lives of millions of women.” Katrina also paid tribute to Smita Patil, after whom the award is named.

Katrina Kaif will soon be seen in a sequel to ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ opposite Salman Khan.
