This year’s most noted Marathi flick ‘Sairat’ starring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar helmed by Nagraj Manjule struck the right notes with the masses and went on to collect almost Rs 90 crore in India and grossed over Rs 100 crore worldwide.
So, the reason we are reminding you of this superhit romantic saga is because an A-List filmmaker has grabbed the rights to remake it in Hindi. The filmmaker is none other than Karan Johar. Many directors were eyeing this movie, but it was finally Johar who picked up the rights, as reported by a famous trade magazine. Dharma Productions will be co-producing the movie along with Zee, who are the original producers.
The Hindi movie will have a new cast and one of Dharma’s directors will helm the project. In fact, a team of writers has already started work on the second draft of the movie and the shooting for it will commence in next year. ‘Sairat’ has also been selected for a remake in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
