The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena have issued a threat of vandalism to the multiplexes if they release Karan Johar‘s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. The single-screen theater operators had announced that they would not screen Johar’s upcoming film, but multiplex operators had not given similar assurance so MNS made its stand clear.
The reason behind the decision of the MNS is the ban imposed on Pakistani actors after the Uri attacks. A NUmber of political parties had decided that movies starring artists from the neighboring country will not be screened.Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ that stars Fawad Khan and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ are in the center of the controversy.
MNS leader Amey Khopkar said, “We will oppose the screening of the movie everywhere in the state. If any multiplex operator dares to screen the film, they (operators) should remember that multiplexes are decorated with expensive glass sheets.”
He further added, “The party did not favor employing and cherishing the Pakistani actors so its opposition to such films will continue. We will also oppose Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ though it is slated to release in January.”
