Bollywood actor Om Puri has insulted the martyrdom of soldiers. The actor known for his impeccable acting skills shocked the nation with his statement during a live debate at TV channel. The debate was regarding the recent ban imposed on Pakistani artists following the Uri attacks in which a number of Indian soldiers lost their life to terrorist’s bullets.
Om Puri had said, “We haven’t forced them(The Soldiers)to join army. Prepare 15-20 people as a suicide bomber and send them to Pakistan.”
The actor had even added that, Art and politics should be kept separate. Also that these actors are not brought to India illegally but with work visa so the producers shouldn’t suffer.
No sooner did the actor said this, he was soon trending on social media as Twitterati criticised him for his stand towards the national concern of security. Actor Paresh Rawal too tweeted his shock at Om Puri’s word’s,”Never thought someone like Om Puri ji would make such a shameful comment. Sad. This is so heartbreaking.”
Finally, the actor came forward with a denial that his only meaning was to stop demonising the Pakistani artistes.
Om Puri has worked in various cross-border projects as well, the latest being ‘Actor in Law’, a Pakistani film starring Mehwish Hayat.
