‘Padmavati’: Shahid lost four kgs in five days to play Maharawal Ratan Singh

Shahid Kapoor is depicting the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’. The movie has Deepika Padukone depicting the titular role with Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji. Shahid recently revealed that he had to undergo amazing body transformation to play the role of the Rajput king.

Speaking to NDTV Shahid said, “I lost four kilos in five days.”

It is revealed that the reason Shahid lost the weight was because he had to wear an armour weighing 30-40kg during the shoot of action sequences.

Shahid added, “I don’t find physical challenges as challenging as I find understating the psyche of the character that you are meant to play and be true to him and be able to find all the layers in him. I had to draw from my instinct and from what Sanjay sir had conceived in the script.”

‘Padmavati’ is currently with the Central Board of Film Certification awaiting clearance. The film that was to release of December 1, has been put on hold by the makers. The reason being the raging controversy with many groups and politicians asking for its ban. This due to the rumours that the makers have distorted history and presented the queen in a poor light. The claims have been dismissed by the makers time and again.
