November 30, 2016 was an eventful day in the life of Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh who tied the knot with Bollywood hottie Hazel Keech at a Gurudwara in Chandigarh. The marriage was attended by close family members and friends.
Now reports in a leading web portal suggest that during the rituals, Hazel was constantly called by a new name Gurbasant Kaur by Saint Balvinder Singh. It looks like Hazel has welcomed the new name with open arms.
Yuvraj Singh’s mother who is a firm believer of that Saint had earlier spoken about Hazel’s spiritual beliefs. Mrs Singh had said, “She has also met our Guru ji a couple of times and she follows him truly and with full dedication, as she understands we cannot question our Guru Ji. We all know how he saved Yuvi from cancer and helped in bringing my boy back to life.”
But, it’s kind of surprising that Hazel agreed to get her name changed as she had raised objections against racial discrimination by a well-known money transfer company a few months back. Hazel had said, “May be I should change my name to Gayatri or Bhagwati next time. I even asked them if I should recite the Gayatri Mantra or Hanuman Chalisa. My mother is a Hindu and she is a brown Indian lady, who was with me when this happened. They gave me a tough time because I am fair-skinned. You cannot deny me something because of my name or the way I look. India is known for its diversity and such acts should not happen.”
Even if her name has been changed, for us she will always be Hazel Keech.
