Powerhouse actress Vidya Balan‘s upcoming release ‘Begum Jaan’ is all set to be postponed. The reason behind doing so is the January jinx feared by Bollywood. Yes, the first month of the year is considered taboo by filmmakers, as films released in January have a poor run at the box-office.
The makers of the film have therefore decided to change the release date. Now it will release in March rather than January 2017.
Srijit Mukherji’s upcoming film ‘Begum Jaan’ is an adaptation of the 2015 Bengali film ‘Rajkahini’. It is set in the pre-Independence era. The movie showcases the ‘Kahaani’ star playing the role of a madam of a brothel.
Confirming the news sources said, “The new date is doubly special as it coincides with the 5-year anniversary of ‘Kahaani’, Vidya’s second big hit after ‘The Dirty Picture’.”
The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Rajat Kapoor, Gauhar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Ila Arun, Ashish Vidyarthi & Chunkey Pandey.
