This is how Akshay Kumar is helping the families of martyrs

Bollywood’s khiladi Akshay Kumar recently handed over cheques worth Rs.5 lakhs and Rs. 10 lakhs to the families of martyrs. The actor who is at present at the peak of his career has not let success go to his head, he has been sharing his good fortune with the needy. Earlier too he had donated a handsome amount for the cause of farmers too.

Bollywood stars have been conveying their condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers on social media. But Akshay has requested everyone to come forward and help the family members of martyrs financially.

Akshay Kumar awarded the cheques to the family members at an event that was held to honour unsung heroes. He said, “A medal or an award is good but not enough. More needs to be done for them and their families. They need money too.”

Rockey, a Border Security Force constable, who died fighting terrorists during the Udhampur terrorist attack in 2015. His brother Rohit who lives in Yamuna Nagar in Ramgarh Village, Haryana is grateful for Akshay’s initiative. He said, “It’s a great step from Akshay’s side because he is the only actor who thought about us and what a family goes through when a soldier dies for the country. We felt really nice that at least someone spared some time for us.”

Nazia, 17, who has been presented the Rani Laxmibai award and many others for saving a young girl from getting kidnapped by two men in Agra in August 2015 was overwhelmed with the actor’s gesture. She said, “I’ve been given many awards but to meet Akshay Kumar in person was something I had never thought of. It’s a big thing to get felicitated by him. I want to do good for more people, and meeting Akshay has encouraged me further because people like him will always be there to inspire you.”

On the work front, Akki will be seen with South Superstar Rajinikanth in ‘2.0’, ‘Jolly LLB 2’ and ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’.
